Roman specializes in VAT issues. His extensive experience and achievements in the field have been recognized e.g. by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna (one of Poland's leading dailies) where he was named the country's best VAT expert in 2011, 2013 and 2014. In 2015 he has been considered a leader in VAT in Poland according to 2015 Rzeczpospolita Ranking.
Along with VAT consulting, during a professional career spanning almost two decades Roman has initiated and developed a number of innovative projects and solutions for Polish taxpayers. He has prepared expert opinions on selected controversial aspects of tax law, as well as proposals for changes to tax regulations at the request of both the executive and legislative branches of government. He has developed and expanded new tax consulting services in the area of indirect taxes, including a concept for innovative IT tools for auditing tax accounting procedures.
He began his professional career in 1997 at the Tax Department of Arthur Andersen, continuing his work from 2002 at Ernst & Young. In 2014 he joined Crido Taxand, where he is responsible for the Indirect Taxes Team. He is a graduate of the Cracow University of Economics.
Roman is a co-author of Poland's first commentary on European Value Added Tax law, the author and co-editor of a commentary to Directive 2006/112, one of the most frequently-cited commentaries by Polish administrative courts concerning compliance of Polish regulations with European law as well as the author and co-editor of the definitive commentary on the VAT Directive from the perspective of Polish regulations and their compliance with EU law. He is also the author and co-editor of a commentary to the most extensive amendments to the VAT Act in effect since 1 January 2014, which was published in January 2013.
Roman is the author of countless interviews and press publications concerning VAT, and has also penned extensive expert opinions for the Polish Parliament, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the Economy. He has served on multiple occasions as an expert before the Parliamentary Commission on Public Finances, as well as the Senate Commission on the Budget and Public Finances, where he was involved in work on amendments to the VAT Act. He has also served in the past as a member of a group of experts working under the Minister of Finance to prepare changes in tax law.
He is a member of the National Board of Tax Advisors, where he is the Chair of the Commission on Law and Cooperation with Public Authorities. He has been a Member of the Tax Law Consultative Committee in the Ministry of Finance since 2014.
